Natural animal husbandry in the wild

Gerade nachhalt

It is important for more and more people with a holistic lifestyle to eat consciously. That means they want to know what exactly they are consuming, where it comes from and how it was processed. Sustainable meat consumption in particular is a crucial point here, because if you don't want to do without meat, you should follow the motto: rather less, but high-quality meat. But how do you recognize sustainable meat products? Many factors have to be considered and checked. Above all, there is a species-appropriate, natural animal husbandry that corresponds to its essence. The growing conditions of the feed play just as much a role as the environmental and species protection. In addition, there are gentle slaughter conditions, processing and the use of as many parts of the animal as possible (nose-to-tail principle). This sustainable use of all kinds of resources, which ensures the regeneration and stability of the respective ecosystem, is for us Buffalo Bill Supreme credo.

What makes animal welfare so special

Species-appropriate animal husbandry is based on the natural habitat of an animal and its innate behavior. The more exercise the animals have and the better the environmental conditions, the less susceptible they are to diseases. This in turn lowers the cases in which the animals need medical treatment. In the case of water buffalo, for example, grazing is ideal, as this corresponds to their natural habitat. Just like in humans, it is important for an animal to live in the right social environment-this means that the respective herd size must correspond to its species. The feed and its production are also important criteria that are strictly controlled. Species-appropriate animal husbandry also includes slaughter-the dignity of the animal must not be reduced here.

Factory farming is also dangerous for consumers

In factory farming, the animals are taken from their natural habitat, mostly they have to live under unworthy conditions, cooped up in narrow stalls, many of them completely without exercise. In order to maintain their performance anyway, hormones are added to the feed and antibiotics are added to it to prevent diseases that are inevitable under such conditions. This in turn harbors dangers, as when they consume the meat they unknowingly consume residues of drugs, the effects of which cannot be assessed.

Grazing and natural nutrition for our water buffalo

For us at Buffalo Bill, the welfare of our water buffalo comes first. With our three big partners in Germany, Italy and Argentina Without exception, the buffaloes are kept in huge pastures where they spend the whole year outdoors. The natural and free way of life of our water buffalo is reminiscent of wild animals-their natural robustness, coupled with the ideal fauna in the pastures of our partners, makes the use of antibiotics and growth hormones superfluous. They feed exclusively on fresh grass and herbs-depending on the location, a different unique, aromatic flavor is created, because the food of the animal is reflected in the taste of the meat.

Our water buffalo grow up stress-free and to the highest standards. Our buffalo experience ethical and species-appropriate animal husbandry in every process from rearing to slaughtering, because at Buffalo Bill we know: Dignity is inviolable.
